Cold War movie made to bring the insanity of nuclear war and Mutually Assured Destruction to everyone's mind. A renegade Air Force base commander, General Jack D. Ripper (Sterling Hayden), overly concerned with the purity of Americans' “precious bodily fluids” starts an attack against the Communist Russians that an American group of politicians in a war room try to stop. Dr. Strangelove (Peter Sellars) is one of the war room advisors to President Merkin Muffley (Peter Sellars). The movie follows the crisis as the war room makes its decisions and negotiates with the Russians who claim to have a Doomsday device.
