"Diarios de motocicleta" or “The Motorcycle Diaries” tells the story of a journey across South America by motorcycle taken by the young Ernesto “Che” Guevara (Gael Garcia Bernal) and his friend Alberto Granado (Rodrigo de la Serna). In 1952 Ernesto Guevara has nearly completed his medical degree and with his friend Alberto Granado he decides to make an epic journey across South America looking for fun and adventure. On their travels Guevara and Granado see the deprivation and suffering of the poor lower classes while the rich live in luxurious ignorance. They work in a leper colony, where Guevara has issues with the dogmatic attitude of the catholic priest that run it. This journey opens the eyes of the young men to many social injustices in the world, which may be key factor in Guevara’s later political activities.
