Did you know that the first ever western movie was filmed around 1907 in the Cache, Okla., area? Well, it was. In "The Bank Robbery," Comanche Chief Quanah Parker played on of the characters! He is seen on the cover photo in the black hat on a horse.
Besides Chief Quanah, there were some real federal marshalls by the name of Bill Tilghman, Chris Madsen, Heck Thomas and Frank Canton playing the lawmen. Playing the bank robbers was convicted robber Al Jennings.
In "The Wolf Hunt," Jack Abernathy demonstrates his skill in catching live coyotes, barehanded! President Theodore Roosevelt had seen him demonstrate this in 1905 and asked him to do it again on film to show the non-believers in Washington.
